Councillors and mayors in the Southern Riverina will see a flat line in their remuneration increase in 2020/21.
This comes after a decision was passed by the Local Government Remuneration Tribunal to hold all increases.
The tribunal made the decision based on current economic and social circumstances that communities are experiencing.
Councillors at Murrumbidgee Council have collectively supported the decision to keep their fees the same at the June Council meeting.
Mayor Ruth McRae said she and the councillors can happily work within those parameters.
“We understand many in our community are doing it tough at the moment with the effects of both COVID-19 and the drought and we fully support the recommendations made by the tribunal,” Cr McRae said.
The annual fee level for councillors for the financial year 2020/21 is $12,160 and the mayoral additional fee level for the financial year 2020/21 is $26,530.
The Berrigan Shire Council mayoral and councilor rates will also remain stagnant in 2020/21.
It will discuss the tribunals decision in its next council meeting on Wednesday, July 15.
